Travis Shook’s captivating jazz odyssey embarked from Olympia, WA, where triumph at the Great American Jazz Piano Competition in Jacksonville, FL, thrust him into the heart of the genre. Inking a deal with Sony/Columbia Records, he earned a remarkable 5-Star accolade in the All Music Guide to Jazz, earning international praise including the coveted “Best of the Year” distinction from France’s Jazz Magazine, and recognition as a “Tomorrow’s Jazz Piano Giant” heralded by Keyboard Magazine. Central to the Betty Carter Trio, Shook’s artistic footprint spanned continents through global tours, his recordings resonating with versatile brilliance as he collaborated with luminaries like Sonny Simmons, Tony Williams, Buddy Catlett, Veronica Nunn, and more, leaving an indelible imprint on the jazz topography. Along his trajectory, he shared stages with legends Reggie Workman, Eddie Harris, Joe Lovano, Toots Thielemans, Rufus Reid, Chuck Israels, Ernestine Anderson, Branford Marsalis, Benny Golson, and Clifford Jordan.
